California is Burning!

 



 

Over the past few days, I have been watching and reading the news of the LA fires. thousands of homes burnt to ashes. Celebrities homes burnt to the ground, local and state governments clueless about what to do. I mean how does a liberal state that blames climate change on everything that goes wrong for them explain cutting fire departments' budgets to the point that fire hydrants can't pump water blame climate change? 




I have noticed the quiet conservative celebrities finally speaking out against California's liberal leadership. George H.W. Bush was the last President to win California electoral votes in the 1988 presidential election; since then, it has been a solid Democrat. Arnold Schwarzenegger was the last Republican Governor. It is tough for me to consider him a true Conservative. 



The state has slid so hard to the left for so many years and now it's burning or at least Los Angeles is. I am not going to get into the details of what happened to that state, if you have been paying attention to the news over the past years you know what went wrong. The people of California let extreme liberals tell them how to vote. These celebs don't even the true meaning of democracy or how it works and furthermore The United States of America is not a democracy, it is a republic. Just read the Pledge of Allegiance in case you don't know it.

Reflections on Retirement: Five Months In

On January 1st, I retired from work. Now, halfway through my fifth month, I find myself wondering if I made the right decision. My original plan was to pick up a part-time job—something low-paying so it wouldn’t impact my Social Security benefits. But life had other plans. Shortly after retiring, my mother fell ill. It took me three long, stressful months to get her placed in a nursing home. I didn’t have Power of Attorney, so I had to involve Adult Protective Services (APS). The process was messy and emotionally draining. My anxiety was through the roof. (I’ll share more about that in another blog post.) These days, I spend more time reading the Bible and getting involved in church activities, which helps keep me grounded. Still, being home alone can stir up anxiety and stress, especially when your mind drifts to all the problems waiting to be solved. Thankfully, I’ve found a few escapes.
